PAN Files Comments With Department of Justice

On September 15, the Pet Advocacy Network filed a 45-page testimony asking the Department of Justice to challenge state laws that harm pet business and pet owners.

In August, the DOJ announced that it would be seeking to challenge state laws that have an adverse effect on interstate commerce. The DOJ then solicited public comment about laws that the agency should consider challenging.

PAN’s submission to the DOJ pointed to the patchwork of state and local laws, such as retail pet sale bans, that disrupt interstate supply chains, undermine responsible businesses, and reduce consumer choice. Challenging these laws would be a step to ensure the public’s access to healthy, well-raised animals.
