On September 10, Pet Advocacy Network delivered comments to the U.S. delegation to the 20th Conference of the Parties at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The CITES meeting is scheduled to take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from November 24 to December 5.

Bob Likins, PAN’s Senior Vice President, explained to the delegation how responsible breeding can help drive repopulation efforts of endangered species, and the importance of removing barriers to supporting these efforts. PAN’s presence was also intended to counter the advocacy of activists who are seeking to restrict the responsible international trade in pets.

Joining Likins were Art Parola, representing the National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA), and David Garcia, representing US Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK).
