AB 85Wildlife Classification – “Designated Invertebrates”:
Amends Title 45 (Wildlife), Chapters 501 (Administration & Enforcement and 503 (Hunting, Fishing and Trapping; Miscellaneous Protective Measures) of Nevada Revised Statutes to: (1) Revise the definition of “wildlife” to include designated invertebrates; (2) Establish a wildlife classification for designated invertebrates; and (3) Require listing of designated invertebrates as a fully protected species under certain circumstances.

AB 136Commercial Animal Establishment – Notice Posting Requirement:
Amends Title 50 (Animals), Chapter 574 (Cruelty to Animals: Prevention & Penalties), Section 574.053 (Reporting acts of cruelty; penalty for releasing identity of person making report) of NV Revised Statutes to require certain persons that display animals to the public or allow interactions between animals and members of the public to post a notice with the contact information for the local animal control authority.

AB 381Animal Cruelty Law Definitions/Penalties Amendments:
Amends Title 50 (Animals), Chapter 574 (Cruelty to Animals: Prevention & Penalties), Section 574.050 (Definitions), Section 574.055 (Taking possession of animal being treated cruelly), and Section 574.100 (Torturing, overdriving, injuring or abandoning animals) of Nevada Revised Statutes to revise animal cruelty laws by expanding definitions, increasing penalties, and changing procedures for handling seized animals.

AB 418Animal Establishment Owner Training Course Requirement:
Amends Chapter 244 (Counties: Government) and Chapter 268 (Powers and Duties Common to Cities and Towns Incorporated Under General or Special Laws) of Nevada Revised Statutes to require each governing body of a county or incorporated city to adopt an ordinance requiring the owner or operator of a kennel, an animal rescue organization or a commercial establishment engaged in the business of handling animals to complete a training course on handling animals prescribed by the governing body and renew the training biennially.

AB 487Statewide Pet Sale Ban:
Amends Title 50 (Animals), Chapter 574 (Cruelty to Animals: Prevention and Penalties) of Nevada Revised Statutes by adding a new section to prohibit a retail pet store from selling, offering to sell, bartering, auctioning or otherwise transferring ownership of any dog or cat.

SB 166Insurance Policies – Breed-Specific Prohibition:
Amends Title 57 (Insurance), Chapter 687B (Contacts of Insurance), Section 687B.383 (Refusal to issue, cancellation of, nonrenewal of or increase in premium or rate for certain policies solely on basis of breed of dog prohibited; exception; permissible inquiry by insurer regarding dog) and Title 25 (Public Organizations for Community Service), Chapter 319 (Assistance to Finance Housing), Section 319.600 (Grant program; requirements; regulations; report) of Nevada Revised Statutes to: (1) Revise certain provisions which prohibit certain insurers from discriminating based on the breed of a dog at certain properties; and (2) Revise certain provisions relating to the supportive housing grant program implemented by the Housing Division of the Department of Business and Industry.

ORD No. 2024-45Las Vegas Pet Sales Limit Ordinance:
Amends Title 7 (Animals), Chapters 7.42 (Pet Shops and Related Businesses) and 7.44 (Enforcement) of Las Vegas, NV Municipal Code to: (1) Limit the number of animals that can be sold by a pet shop or breeder to one person or household during a calendar year; (2) Establish corresponding documentation and compliance requirements; and (3) Update penalty provisions pertaining to the keeping and sale of animals.
