Summary:
Ordinance No. 2024-32 amends Title 7 (Animals), Chapters 7.08 (Dog and Cat Licenses and Permits), 7.42 (Pet Shops and Related Businesses) and 7.44 (Enforcement) of Las Vegas, NV Municipal Code to: (1) To limit to four the number of guinea pigs that may be kept at one location; (2) Limit the number of animals that can be sold by a pet shop or breeder to one person or household during a calendar year; (3) Establish corresponding documentation and compliance requirements; and (4) Update penalty provisions pertaining to the keeping and sale of animals.

Proposed ordinance (22-0925) amends Title 10 (Animals), Chapter 10.08 (Household Pet Tagging, Vaccination, Sterilization and Permits), Section 10.08.140 (Sale of Animals) of the Clark County, NV Code of Ordinances to prohibit the sale of dogs, cats, rabbits, and potbellied pigs at county pet shops.

Summary:
Ordinance No. 2022-26 amends Title 7 (Animals), Chapter 7.40 (Professional Animal Handlers), Article 1 (Permits) of Las Vegas, NV Municipal Code to: 1) Expand the Professional Animal Handler Permit requirement to include animal rescue operations; 2) Require background checks for all Professional Animal Handler Permit holders and their employees; and 3) Require background checks for all dog and cat breeder permit holders.
